The market for inexpensive tablets is large: as a smart home center, for children, as a second screen when watching TV. The range is also getting broader, you can currently get Honor’s brand new Pad X8a for 130 dollars.
You can actually always use a cheap tablet. For grandparents or children because it could break. As the headquarters for the smart home, if in doubt in every inhabited room. Or to take with you when things could get a little more rustic on the go, for example on a camping holiday. You generally don’t need an expensive high-end tablet.
The range of cheap tablets is large, but only a few offers really promise sufficient performance for the money offered, because the image should be at least reasonably sharp and the battery life should be at least satisfactory. A sufficiently fast processor so that the image does not jerk when scrolling would also be an option not wrong.
The Chinese manufacturer of smartphones, tablets and notebooks Honor has introduced many new devices this year, including the Honor Magic V3.
In the shadow of this new flagship, the Honor Pad X8a went on sale in August this year. There is now a voucher code for the brand new tablet that makes the device a real bargain. You currently only have to pay 129 dollars for the device.

The HONOR Pad X8a can certainly be described as solid. The 11-inch display, with a maximum brightness of 400 nits and a resolution of 1,920×1,200, is definitely suitable for longer reading and streaming sessions. The tablet can last for quite a while without a mains connection because the battery has a large capacity of 8,300 mAh. According to the manufacturer, this should be enough for 14 hours of video playback, 85 hours of music playback and a standby time of almost two months.
The tablet comes with the in-house operating system MagicOS 8.0, which is based on Android 14. Compared to the Blackview Tab90, which is also very affordable at just under 110 dollars and which we present in more detail in another news article, it offers better features that certainly justify the additional charge of just 19 dollars.

For example, a mobile phone option is missing – neither a SIM card slot nor an eSIM option is available. Of course, the tablet supports WiFi and can be powered via a personal hotspot on the go, for example with a smartphone.
