game news Check out all Future Game Show demos available now for free!
If Thursday’s Summer Game Fest marked the start of the celebrations, it was Saturday’s Future Game Show that kickstarted the Saturday night fever. About fifty games were featured, some of which even offered a free-to-play version.
A late spring dedicated to video games
We’re right in the middle of video game players’ favorite time: the pre-summer conferences. If the 2023 edition of E3 has been cancelled, that doesn’t stop all gamers in the video game world from starting the celebrations. Last Thursday, for example, it was Geoff Keighley who again presented his summer game festival‘ with lots of nice announcements. For example, without claiming to be complete, we come back to the trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth or the announcement of the release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The celebrations, which only begin tomorrow, mark the day of the Xbox/Bethesda conference with an event dedicated to Starfield, before continuing on Monday with appointments to be made by Ubisoft and Capcom themselves.
Meanwhile, Saturday Night fever has reached video game enthusiasts with the Future Game Show, an event hosted by Laura Bailey and Yuri Lowenthal where 50 titles could talk about them. Of course, all of the featured games came from independent studios that used the opportunity and, most importantly, a larger communication channel to present their games.
Future Game Show: What playable demos?
Some of these studios don’t even hesitate to provide a demo version of their software for players to try. That’s why the Future Game Show includes The Ones to Play section with a variety of new demos for you to try right away.
- Worst handyman in the world : a title whose general atmosphere will remind you of the excellent Untitled Goose Game. In this game developed by Baby Lumberjack, the player embodies a craftsman who is completely unfamiliar with his ten fingers. However, he has to save an animal den from bankruptcy through various DIY jobs, which leads to several humorous situations.
- paper trail : It is a puzzle game developed by Newfangled Games. The player embodies Paige, a student who leaves the family cocoon. She must bend the world around her along different axes to solve puzzles, explore new areas, and uncover forgotten mysteries. Paper Trail is also scheduled for release in 2023.
- Myths Destroyed: Ambrosia Island : This adventure game developed by Polygon Treehouse puts the player in the role of Alex. He is a backpacker who has taken the wrong path and encounters the unusual gods of Greek mythology. He will then help them recall their memories and understand why they are still here.
- Glue it to the stick figures : The stick figure is hard to miss, these characters are straight out of a children’s drawing book. They’re often the star of mobile fighting games, but thanks to Stick It to the Stickman they’re given another dimension. This is about the physics engine (and thus much more difficult moves) and about roguelite. Death is not your enemy.
- remedy : It is a Twin stick shooter in isometric view, 100 years after the plague turned all inhabitants into mutants. You soon embark on a desperate journey to find the cure for the ailment and turn the outbreak’s symptoms into tools you can use in battle.
- Laser: Summit Kingdom : We end this list with a management game that will literally take your breath away. You’ll have to face the construction of a city in the high mountains and all the consequent consequences: temperature, avalanche… But you’ll also have to face the city’s social problems and manage to integrate a growing population with resources that are difficult to access.
A list of demos that should keep the majority of players eagerly awaiting the continuation of the announcements surrounding Summer Game Fest. Starting tomorrow at 6:00 p.m., the celebrations continue with the Xbox/Bethesda Conference followed by the PC Gaming Show. Of course everything about JV is covered.
