News culture Cinema is in “a very bad situation”: This director pays for Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel films, but fears the worst for Seventh Art…

Even though “Deadpool & Wolverine” is a hit with audiences and has grossed well over a billion US dollars at the box office, its success is not to everyone’s liking. In fact, actor and director Brian Cox (“Succession”) recently spoke out about complaining about superhero movies.
Cinema is bad
“I think the cinema is doing very badly at the moment”
says the English actor in a speech Shared by The Hollywood Reporter “I think he’s losing his place, partly because of (…) Marvel, DC and others. And I think everything is actually starting to implode“. The actor clarifies his thoughts by explaining that if the films in question “make a lot of money, which makes everyone happy as far as work is concerned, that gets diluted over time.”We constantly see the same things…I mean, I’ve been involved in projects like that myself.” In fact, Brian Cox has played the role of William Stryker in the past X-Men 2 by Bryan Singer, the actor is therefore very aware of the production of superhero films and the place they occupy in the film industry today.
Brian Cox’s statements are slightly reminiscent of those of Steven Spielberg, who compared these films to amusement parks
as opposed to a “cinema of people trying to convey emotional and psychological experiences.” The debate about Marvel and DC films will certainly not end here, as the two giants both have release schedules for several years and are eagerly trying to grab all possible points at the box office. However, the feeling of a loss of interest in superhero films persists The success of the latest films in the genre, especially “Deadpool & Wolverine”, proves the opposite.
