Cities: Skylines 2 is struggling to get back on track and unfortunately the game continues its problems with another piece of bad news. We’ll tell you what it is.
Cities: Skylines 2 players still have to wait. Colossal Order Studio has announced new delays for the game’s DLC. But this time, one key element is in the spotlight: the asset editor that the community has been eagerly awaiting. What exactly do we know about it?
A difficult start and a series of delays for Cities Skylines 2
Since its release, Cities: Skylines 2 has encountered several difficulties. The game was criticized for its performance issues, forcing the developer to postpone several planned content. Among them, the Beach Properties Asset Pack, which was scheduled to be released in late 2023, was ultimately delayed to 2024. However, even after its release, players expressed their disappointment, deeming the content insufficient and too expensive. Faced with this reaction, Paradox Interactive apologized and compensated players while postponing the development of future DLCs.
One of the most anticipated features by players is the Asset Editor. This tool allows you to create and customize in-game assets, a must-have for the modding community. However, Colossal Order recently announced that this editor is taking longer than expected to complete. The studio therefore decided to focus its efforts on it, stating: “more work is needed” before you can suggest a release date.
As a result, the Urban Promenades and Modern Architecture packages will be postponed until the end of 2024, while the Bridges and Harbors expansion will not see the light of day until the second quarter of 2025.
Continuous improvements to the game
Despite these delays, Colossal Order continues to improve the base game Cities Skylines 2. Adjustments to the economy have already been made, decoration tools have been added, and the first support for mods has been launched. The studio promised to continue improving key aspects such as the hotel system, tourism, and decoration, while also fixing bugs.
