Fans of the city-building sequel Cities: Skylines II can finally look forward to a long-awaited feature: the promised modding options will appear shortly, as will a first asset pack of additional content.
Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order jointly announced today that the first asset pack for the city building simulation will be available on March 25, 2024. This is called “Beach Properties” and costs 9.99 dollars. Anyone who has purchased the Waterfronts Expansion Pass or the Ultimate Edition of the game will receive the DLC within these offers at no additional cost.
With “Beach Properties” the first phase of the longed-for modding options and tools in the game begins. In the future, these will enable you to create, share and play mods via a simple in-game interface. After the modding beta is released, an in-game editor will be available that will let you create and implement map or code mods. These can be shared via the “Paradox Mods” platform, which will be integrated directly into the game.
Additional options will be available via the mod hub over the course of the year; there will also be additional asset modding tools and more. The offering via the mod hub will continue to grow and will probably provide plenty of gaming material in the future.
In addition to the modding tools and “Beach Properties”, there will also be a new in-game radio for Cities: Skylines II from March 25th: the Deluxe Relax Station. This relies on a new presenter and a whole hour of new music. If you want to listen to this radio, you will also have to shell out 4.99 dollars. The same applies here: Buyers of the Waterfronts Expansion Pass or the Ultimate Edition receive the radio at no additional cost.
