16 years of mobile phone license
This news caught your attention: Citroen launched the AMI, an affordable small electric car that can travel 70 kilometers-and can obtain a moped driving license from the age of 16. It can accommodate two people.
With AMI, can Citroen do what the legendary duck does? At least at first glance, it was first shown a year ago as a concept car, and the now-produced mini cars look like a hit. The price also seems reasonable.

The compact capsule is 2.41 meters long, 1.39 meters wide, and only 1.52 high, but provides enough space for two adults. Compared to similar and even more expensive competitors such as Renault Twizy, the driver and front passenger are sitting side by side without each other. Compared to Twizy, the head also has a fixed roof and built-in doors.
The top speed is 45 km / h and the range is 70 km.
Citroen stipulates a maximum speed of 45 km / h. Therefore, the Citroen AMI may be driven by a person with a moped license in the AM category. The minimum age is 16 years. Due to low speeds, electric cars are not allowed on the highway. This range is also the opposite. According to Citroen, the battery has a capacity of 5.5 kWh, which is enough to cover a distance of about 70 kilometers. The small capacity also offers a clear advantage-a small car should be able to charge from a household outlet in three hours.
Citroen AMI: prices and sales start
If you want to buy a Citroen AMI, you need to pay 6,900 Euros. Standard equipment includes a glass panoramic roof. Your own smartphone can be used as an infotainment system. You can also rent an electric car if needed. The price is then around 20 Euros per month with a special payment of 2,640 Euros. In addition, the Citroen AMI should be available for free at 26 Euro cents per minute via Free2Move.
The market launch of AMI will initially begin in June 2020 in France. In Germany, you can also buy a car from the summer of 2020. For more information on CitroënAMI, visit the manufacturer's website.
