Sucker Punch is finally saying goodbye to Ghost of Tsushima. The studio announced the end of exclusive PlayStation support in the latest update.
A page turns for Sucker Punch. Almost two years after the release of Ghost of Tsushima, the studio finally seems ready to move on to new horizons. The PS4 exclusive managed to cause a surprise in July 2020, despite having the tough task of coming in just after certain The Last of Us 2. Several UpdateMultiplayer and a director’s cut later, it’s time to move on.
More content for Ghost of Tsushima
At least that’s what the studio is trying to express with Ghost of Tsushima update 2.18, which will obviously be the last. To wrap up the patch notes, the developers sent the following message to players:
While we are no longer actively working on additional fixes at this time, we will continue to monitor comments on the community sub-reddit and on Twitter reporting high-profile bugs or emerging issues. We’d like to send a huge THANK YOU to the entire community for their incredible support and feedback since the game launched. We could never have hoped for such an active community more than a year and a half later. We are infinitely grateful to everyone who has accompanied us on this journey.
A nice farewell message, but it doesn’t mean the end of the license by a long shot. In fact, there are several indications that Sucker Punch is already working on a Ghost of Tsushima 2, or at least a sequel. The game will also be filmed, directed by director John Wick. Given the game’s commercial success, we don’t expect Sony to let go of the license that easily.
