Remaster Studio has released a first (paid) beta version of their graphics overhaul for Stalker: Clear Sky. An impression of the new visual splendor you can get yourself in the trailer above.
The mod is currently only available for supporters of the Patreon from Remaster Studio. From at least five dollars a month you get access to all projects of the team – and thus also the new edition of Stalker: Clear Sky. A free version will also be published on ModDB in the coming months.
What improves the remaster?
- New engine: The remaster ported Clear Sky to the latest 64-bit version of the X-Ray eng ine. This should make it run faster and more stable.
- Ultra HD: The new textures have a resolution of 2K to 8K. There are also bump maps with a resolution of up to 4K. The new sky boxes also have a 4K resolution.
- Improved models: NPCs receive models with 30,000 to 70,000 polygons. The mutants, on the other hand, have 20,000 to 40,000 polygons.
- Modern effects: In addition to global lighting, there is also HQ ambient occlusion. Soft and grass shadows have also been added and there is motion blur.
- Vegetation: Better textures and bump maps for the leaves
- Particle: Among other things, a new particle system enables particle collisions.
Setting options: You will be able to manually adjust all post-processing effects in the options of the mod or – if you don't like them – you can also switch them off.

Will more stalkers come?
A successor to Stalker was announced in May 2018. However, the developer has not yet published a lot of information. It wasn't until the end of March 2020 a first screenshotshowing a huge anomaly in a forest.
For the current year 2020, the developer GSC Game World promises to publish more news about the shooter, which will again play in the exclusion zone around the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Until then, the survival shooter Escape from Tarkov could be an alternative to stalkers. Because of its hardcore approach, it is primarily geared towards players with thick fur and a high tolerance to frustration. Nevertheless or precisely because of this, Escape from Tarkov is very popular and was able to inspire an established fan community.
