The video game extravaganza continues later today, with Microsoft hosting its own Xbox Games Showcase following PlayStation’s State of Play and Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest – and you can watch it live here! Handy, huh?
It’s been a bit of an odd year for Xbox. For one, they’ve finally spent billions to acquire a few companies you’ve probably heard of (Activision, Blizzard, King). On top of that, there’s been a big shift internally away from Xbox exclusives, with flagship titles like Sea of Thieves (pardon the pun), Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment making their way to other platforms. Now, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, Xbox will show off more of what it has planned for the coming months.
You can view the above show via YouTube (an ASL version is also available here), or if you prefer to watch via the official Xbox Twitch channel, you can watch it there as well.
Here’s what we know for sure: First, we’ll get a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct after the Xbox Games Showcase, which will provide an in-depth look at the latest entry in the shooter series. According to previous reports, a new Doom game will almost certainly be announced, although this could also change at the last minute. And, given that Starfield’s first upcoming expansion is set to release in the second half of this year, a sneak peek at it is almost guaranteed.
Gears 6 might also be a good choice, as it was reported earlier this year that it will also be released in the summer. I’m also guessing that Avowed will eventually have a release date, but don’t be too hard on it and don’t be surprised if it comes later than initially expected.
There are also rumors that a native Xbox handheld console is on the way, but it’s better to err on the side of caution. Regardless, everyone’s favorite “leaky faucet” Jeff Grubb believes the show will last about two hours, so there’s probably a lot to look forward to no matter what’s on display.
