Cyberpunk 2077 is not there yet. The Last Night is always in demand. So how do you get a new dose of skyscrapers, nons, androdes who dream of electric sheep and synthwave as soothing as plaintive in this period of confinement? Perhaps by looking at Cloudpunk, a project from Germany, from ION LANDS, which seems to tick all the boxes of a list of fans of Blade Runner.
The future, flying cars, cities that have grown in altitude until the locals forget the color of the sky. Welcome Nivalis, overloaded, overbooked, crowded megalopolis, in which Rania has decided to start her life over. Tonight is his first tour. Rania is a deliverer on behalf of the company Cloudpunk. She takes the packages and brings them to their recipients. A simple job in which you have to know how to slalom between flying vehicles … and the desire to be curious. Easier said than done when almost everyone has decided to use your services their own way.
Nivalis, a box
You will surely have noticed it by watching the screenshots made for this TEST in our gallery below, Cloudpunk leaves with a definite advantage to attract the barge: visually, it's hot. The development team has created a small, non-black world in voxel that is simply sublime. Dense, secret, alive, as resplendent as disturbing, the town of Nivalis, which we will have no harm in describing as the main protagonist, immediately makes you want to get lost, off the beaten track. The different districts, more or less luxurious or typical, give it a certain personality, which the effects of very worked lights constantly emphasize. If it had been a question of a single open mass, and not divided into zones with loads to pass from one another, the happiness would have been complete. It would even have been beyond the clouds if the handling of our vehicle, baptized HOVA, had proved a little more adequate. Heavy and clumsy in turns and changes in altitude, it unfortunately condemns us to enjoy a synthetic sound atmosphere – very Vangelissienne – ideal while tranant. A bit of thrill and nervousness mastered in a place of such splendor, which lends itself to replaying aerial exploits worthy of Korben Dallas, would certainly give more punch to the overall experience.
Harder Better Fedex Stronger
The adventure also takes place on the ground, after having to be placed in a parking lot provided for this purpose and which may be far from the place where one is supposed to go. feet, the feeling is once again mixed. On the one hand, it remains splendid and one would almost feel privileged to be able to wander in vibrant neighborhoods, malfams, wealthy or underground. On the other, there are galres. Firstly because the camera, fixed, often makes its own. Then, because the architecture does not correspond to the once again very slow movements of our protagonist. Finally, because as soon as there are several floors and elevators to manage, this can quickly motivate. Add that to a cruel lack of life, of interesting things to do. The NPCs seem sadly static, you only interact with a handful of bank terminals, vendors, and objects picked up from the ground. These rarely prove to be useful other than replenishing a wallet that will only lose weight to fit out your vehicle, repair or refuel it, adopt new outfits, or garnish your accommodation with supplies – which has strictly no impact on anything. Next, there is a quest to find dozens of punch cards scattered all over the place. But for the reasons mentioned above, accomplishing it will require incredible courage.
Into the Night
Delivery game that can rightly be considered as a narrative adventure leaving you the power of decision, with optional contemplative exploration, Cloudpunk gets away with the honors on the side of his narration. Rarely leaving holes between each mission, well endowed on the annex part, it offers a frame and a gallery of characters certainly a little basic at startup, but which quickly gain in thickness. What Rania will experience during this night, the relationship that she will develop with her "controller", the thugs, dsrits, plotters, people who are too stuffy, and other bizarre androdes with whom she is going to fall in love … Without being incredible, it remains functional – even if the dubbing (English) is not always level. Attaching certain personalities, in the first place Camus, the doggie with a sad and funny destiny at the same time, is not impossible. Recognize a good approach to the various usual themes of Cyberpunk either. The development team put their hearts into it and felt it. This means that around ten hours in the company of Cloudpunk leaves, despite some regrets, a good memory on our hard drive.
