Steam lists a satire game called Clownfield 2042, which is obviously targeting the stumbling shooter Battlefield 2042. Judging by the first pictures and videos, the parody uses a low-poly look and includes the typical Battlefield gameplay.
But without multiplayer: Clownfield is designed exclusively to fight against AI opponents. The AI is pretty simple, but good enough for now
as developer Riverside Sports on Steam explained. The entire description text is literally oozing sarcasm.
What the game parodies
There are several points of criticism between the lines, for example in the description text that translates the story of BF 2042. And from the pawns No-Pats
just become the No-Clowns

Clownfield 2042 is an FPS in which you take on the role of a unique soldier equipped with six weapons who must fight the enemy and win the front lines. After the crypto crash of 2022, most of the nations collapsed and an association of “no-clowns” was formed; and you happen to be one of them. Arm yourself and get ready for war.
It doesn’t stop there, the modes also imply a lot:
All Out Clownfare: The mode allows you to play with as many bots as how your pc can handle
. A clear allusion to the high number of players in Battlefield 2042, which is associated with performance problems for many players.
Hovercraft Zone: In the hazard zone waste, you should be able to jet around with hovercraft, instead of playing as intended

How does EA react?
Time will tell whether the publisher of Battlefield 2042 will put up with the satire unchallenged. After all, Clownfield 2042 advertises with a logo that is very reminiscent of that of the parodied model. So it is conceivable that EA lawyers will find legal points of attack here.
Clownfield 2042 should appear on Steam on December 31, 2021. Assuming development began with the release of Battlefield 2042, there are just a month and a half of development time. And whether the release will actually go smoothly remains to be seen in view of the chutzpah displayed.
