With The Penguin about to be released, many fans of the Dark Knight are already thinking about the sequel to The Batman. Although little information is known about this second installment starring Robert Pattinson, one of the big draws will be the appearance of the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, who has already confirmed his return. The Irish actor hopes to be a key piece in this new blockbuster, set within the DC Elseworlds universe.
The director has spoken about this topic Matt Reeves y Colin Farrell in an interview with the American media DigitalSpyDuring the conversation, they discussed Keoghan’s brief but impactful appearance in the first film and the excitement over a possible encounter between Oswald Cobblepot and the Joker in the next film.
“I would love to work with Barry,” Farrell said. The two actors, who share Dublin roots, have worked together on films such as Grieving Souls of Inisherin
For his part, Matt Reeves expressed his admiration for Keoghan’s work and reaffirmed his commitment to giving each character a more realistic approach, in keeping with the dark version of Gotham he has created. The sequel to The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on October 2, 2024.
