The two giants of the video game industry, Microsoft and Sony, have always been in competition. But recently tensions have escalated. This can be seen in particular in the words of PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, who called the Xbox boss (Phil Spencer) “blatant harassment” over Microsoft’s document requests. One of the biggest revelations of the lawsuit between the FTC and the company co-founded by Bill Gates is that the latter aims to become the video game leader by doubling its sales. With the planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the most expensive company in the video game industry, both the FTC (the American regulatory authority) and the CMA and the European Commission will therefore play an important role in the next acquisitions.
