As the scalpers scourge spreads across the PS5 market, retailers are finding tricks to contain the problem.
In Japan, brands are constantly finding initiatives and tips to prevent scalpers from buying consoles in bulk. Last month it was the Nojima Denki channel that wrote the buyer’s name right on the console’s box and destroyed the controller’s. Today, GEO, another Japanese chain, goes even further, directly marking the inside of console boxes to prevent them from being resold “like new”. France may be able to take advantage of these drastic measures, especially since stocks of the PS5, as recently announced by Sony, are being revised downwards again.
