Want more Adventure Time? You’re getting it, and by the sounds of it, a whole bunch of it.
Earlier today at the Annecy Animation Festival, Warner Bros. Animation announced a slew of upcoming movies and TV shows. The most notable of these is undoubtedly the upcoming film adaptation of the Cartoon Network classic series Adventure Time (via Variety). Not much is known about the film at the moment, with the only description being, “Jake and Finn embark on their greatest adventure yet.” However, animation fans do have reason to be excited. Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar, Over the Garden Wall creator Patrick McHale, and former Adventure Time showrunner Adam Muto are all attached to the project.

Any Adventure Time fan will remember Sugar for writing several classic songs for the series, so it was definitely worth the wait for her to be involved in such a direct way. McHale and Muto are both equally strong creative talents, with McHale having previously worked with Guillermo del Toro on Pinocchio and is also a producer on Adventure Time: Finna and Cake. The new movie isn’t the only new Adventure Time project in the works, either.
While Adventure Time: Heyo BMO is targeted at preschoolers, the game has been announced to focus on the fan-favorite characters of the same name in the “magical Land of Ooo,” where “the little robot BMO embarks on a new adventure. Now settled in a new neighborhood and making new friends, BMO approaches every challenge with his own unique passion and curiosity in order to learn and grow his database.”
In addition, “Adventure Time: Side Quest” has just been approved. This is a new show that mainly tells the story of Finn and Jake fighting monsters in different missions in their early years. This show will not follow the grand overall plot like the original, but will choose the form of episodes. Nate Cash, who has participated in the production of the original series, will serve as the creator of the show.
Mind you, Finn & Cake was also renewed for a second season, so Warner Bros. is clearly going all-in on the Adventure Time IP. I guess they mean it when they say the fun never stops!
