Why not a vacuum robot right away?
People are becoming more and more creative over time when it comes to simplifying their lives. An outgrowth of this creativity, along with vacuum robots, are wet and dry vacuum cleaners. Where before you had to work the floor twice to make it really clean – once with a vacuum cleaner and once with a mop – this can now be done in one go.
What are wet and dry vacuum cleaners?
The rubbish and stains that are on the floor are usually softened and vacuumed up with two rapidly rotating, with fresh water (often with the addition of detergent). This ensures a particularly good cleanliness effect. Because the floor can dry quickly and directly after wiping due to the high water temperature.
In addition, the rollers are equipped with special, soft microfibre brushes so that sensitive surfaces, e.g. made of untreated wood, are not damaged. The dirty water is collected in a separate container.

First of all: You will not find any substantial differences in the features of the wet and dry vacuum cleaners. All models come with many smart functions that make vacuuming easier. This includes automatic cleaning of the rollers, a smart display with a display, a charging station, a dirt detection sensor and various power levels that ensure suitable cleaning in all cases.
The actual differences are more in the subtleties. For example, the Roborock Dyad Pro shines in the test with a battery life of an impressive 43 minutes, while the other models only last 35 minutes. Depending on the model, the fresh water tank holds between 745 and 900 milliliters. There are also small differences in performance – the Xiaomi TrueClean W10 Pro has the weakest motor with 200W power, while the Roborock scores with 260 watts.
A special feature: The charging station of the Xiaomi TrueClean W10 Ultra has a lot of extra features. It has its own 3 liter water tank. The water can be refilled when charging the teat and automatically heated to 75 degrees Celsius at the push of a button. In addition, on most devices, the wiping rollers are cleaned both during the wiping process and in the charging station.
When it comes to value for money, however, we have a clear winner. The Roborock Dyad Pro is the cheapest device in our comparison, but it weighs a lot: a powerful motor, many smart functions such as automatic roller drying, excellent edge cleaning and adaptive cleaning. At 4.8 kg, the device is also lightweight and fits into any household.
What are the advantages and disadvantages compared to a regular vacuum cleaner?
The way in which the devices are superior or inferior to regular vacuum cleaners is obvious.
Advantages:
- Wiping and vacuuming in one go: That should be self-explanatory. Since you can mop and vacuum your floors with the devices at the same time, you save time and benefit from cleaner floors. Also, you don’t have to lug around heavy buckets of water – good for your back.
- No Long Drying Time: Your floors don’t need to dry long after mopping, as the water used is typically heated to a higher temperature than that used in mop mopping.
- Perfect cleaning of the floors: your floor will be cleaner than ever before when you clean it with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. When wiping with a mop or conventional vacuuming, it often happens that crumbs or stains are accidentally overlooked.
- Always ready for use: A wet and dry vacuum cleaner can be used immediately and does not require any warm-up time. This saves you even more time.
Disadvantages
- More expensive: The devices are logically more expensive than conventional vacuum cleaners and mops.
- Need to be charged: Most models are not corded but battery operated and need to be charged accordingly after use. In some cases, the full charging time can be up to four hours.
Why not a vacuum robot right away?
Most vacuum robots also have the function of wiping the floor when vacuuming. Many people ask why they shouldn’t invest in such a robot right away. For one thing, some houses aren’t necessarily suitable for vacuum robots – houses with several levels or apartments with many steps that cannot be climbed by the robots are poorly suited for the devices.
In addition, the devices are often not as quick to clean as a person with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Manual cleaning is also often more thorough. But the robots have to be allowed to run without human intervention and are therefore well suited for people who rarely find time to vacuum the apartment.
If it should be a vacuum robot, our comparison will help you with the purchase decision.
