Game News Concord: After the disaster, the director of the PS5 and PC video game leaves the ship
Two weeks after Sony permanently shut down the Concord servers, the game’s director decided to leave his position to take a minor role at the Firewalk studio.
The Concord disaster
Officially released on August 23rd. Unity quickly became a disaster for Sony. Absolutely catastrophic, sales barely exceeded 15,000 copies on PS5 and PC, with a total of 700 players connected simultaneously on Steam. A total failure that led Sony to permanently close the game’s servers just a few days after its release. This admission of failure hurts the company a lot, especially when rumors say that the software cost almost $400 million to develop and Sony was thinking about turning it into a transmedia license “at least as ambitious as Star Wars.” And the crash of Concord also had an immediate impact on the studio behind the title Firewalk.

The director resigns
Accordingly My cityConcord director Ryan Ellis reportedly decided to resign two weeks after Concord closed permanently. According to this report, the game director will leave his position but will stay at Firewalk Studios to take on a “supporting role.” Kotaku explains that Ellis served as the main “decision maker” on “Concord,” a role he held until the end when the director himself released the film Blog post which announced the impending closure of the game servers.
The failure of Concord could also have consequences for the 160 developers who worked on the game. Many now fear for their jobs, while the future of the studio is uncertain. At this point, Sony has not made a decision regarding Firewalk. I hope that the teams get back on their feet quickly and have the opportunity to show all their talent.
