Concord is a hero shooter and PlayStation’s latest big live service game, but sales don’t seem to be going well.

If you only listened to the big guys, you’d think live service games were the darling of all gamers everywhere. Yes, there are a handful of games that are incredibly popular, like Genshin Impact and Fortnite, but for the most part, live service games just don’t work for a lot of games. However, following up on the heels of PlayStation’s hit Hellraiser 2, it recently released another shooter, this time hero shooter Concerto. However, it quickly became clear that things weren’t going well for the game, with the game peaking at 697 concurrent players and failing to surpass that number since launch. Now, in a report from IGN, industry analysts say they believe the game has only sold 25,000 copies across PlayStation and PC.

First, Omdia lead analyst Liam Deane said, “The numbers on Steam are terrible, and even without exact numbers on the PS5 side, we can be sure that this game is performing very badly.” While player numbers can be tracked on Steam, they are not currently tracked on PlayStation, so there is no data there. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella shared that as of August 26, “Concord ranks 147th among daily active players of all PS5 games in the US, with less than 0.2% of active PS5 players playing it on Monday.”

Another analyst, Simon Carless, further elaborated on the PlayStation side of the story, estimating that Concord has now sold about 10,000 copies total on Steam and 15,000 copies total on PlayStation, with IGN noting that the email containing this estimate arrived on August 28, so it could be more now. As for why Concord failed, numerous analysts IGN spoke to agreed that poor marketing, a high price, and a lack of differentiation in an oversaturated genre were all reasons for its poor sales.

IGN’s full report is worth a read for a deeper look at why the game has struggled since launch, but for now it looks like Concord may be heading to the growing list of live service games that fail to fully stand out.
