Cowboy Bebop is back soon, but as part of a somewhat special collaboration with a well-known game that is not necessarily appreciated by everyone. You’ll see why.
You may know “Cowboy Bebop,” this 26-episode animated series released in 1998. It is a monument to Japanese animation, which even received a live-action adaptation on Netflix. But hey, maybe we’ll avoid talking about this disaster. Regardless, Shin’ichirō Watanabe’s work had a significant impact on the medium, and many people continue to enjoy it today. If you are one of them, you know that it is soon back through a partnership with a famous video game.
Cowboy Bebop is back… in Overwatch 2
The title in question is Overwatch 2, the sequel that generated a lot of buzz, and not always for the right reasons. So we talked about a game that had pretty divided the community. In any case, it has already reached Season 9, which has brought many new features to the experience. But we’re not here to tell you about these changes. In fact, we learned that Cowboy Bebop would be coming to the multiplayer FPS on March 12th. You can see the blow coming, but it will be felt in a very specific way: through outfits you can buy in the store.
But what exactly awaits us then? Well, special skins for different characters. We particularly point this out Ashe Faye Valentinee, Cassidy Spike Spiegel, Mauga jet black or Shadow Ed. It’s a good opportunity for fans to feel like they’re immersed in this universe again. Plus the outfit Bouldozer A can be unlocked for free through challenges, which is a nice surprise. But do you know what’s the best part of all this? The trailer to celebrate the partnership. It’s deliberately inspired by the absolutely fabulous opening theme from Cowboy Bebop. A beautiful homage to a legendary work.
