Since there is no news after the excellent fourth work, Crash Bandicoot 5 is being talked about again, but in an indirect way, which is like a cold shower for the fans.
The latest reveal about Crash Bandicoot 5 comes from a former artist who worked at Toys for Bob. It’s a reminder to that studio that we owe the very good It’s About Time. After a Crash Team Rumble that was released more or less to general indifference, the demand from fans for a return to the platform’s roots is cruelly felt… and that’s not likely to change anytime soon.
Fans’ hopes for a real Crash Bandicoot 5 were dashed
Under the management of Activision, Toys for Bob made a good impression with Crash Bandicoot 4, paying an excellent tribute to the cult license created by Naughty Dog. This latest generation of the famous marsupial has proven to be particularly robust. The same studio also became known for the excellent Reignited Trilogy of another strong PlayStation license, Spyro.
Nicholas Kole, former concept artist at Toys for Bob, had some very sad news related to these two licenses. He gave up on the idea that this would also be the case with Crash Bandicoot 5, much to the dismay of fans. “One day people will hear about the Crash Bandicoot 5 that never was, and it will break their hearts,” he explained.
An unfortunate and very plausible prospect, since Toys for Bob serves as a support studio for Call of Duty and its battle royale Warzone after Crash Team Rumble. The team then left Activision to regain its independence, albeit under the guise of a possible collaboration with Microsoft following the American giant’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. Unfortunately, as it stands, this does not seem to equate to an imminent release of the highly anticipated Crash Bandicoot 5. The marsupial is therefore locked in a box for the time being, somewhere in the twists and turns of Dr. Cortex’s laboratories.
