Between the Arceus Pokémon legends and remakes, The Pokémon Company still made big bucks. Results that allow him a record year.
When Pikachu and his ilk do Nintendo’s business, the band is hugely profitable for their ancestor, The Pokémon Company, too.
The Pokémon Company is rich
For the past fiscal year (April 2021 to March 2022), The Pokémon Company let the counters explode. The company had a record year with sales of $1.6 billion (+70.4%) and net income of $322 million (+123%), as highlighted by the consultant dr Serkan Toto.
These oh-so-positive results can be attributed to sales of the latest games. Namely Pokémon Legends Arceus (12.64 million), New Pokémon Snap (2.40 million) & Sparkling Diamond/Sparkling Pearl (14.65 million). But that’s not all.
Sword & Shield sold an additional 3.18 million copies for a total of 24.27 million. As for Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee, 1.24 million additional copies found takers for a game that peaked at 14.53 million units sold.
Despite the waning Pokémon Go hype, the title continues to draw people in. Players willing to make in-app purchases and thus contribute to the success of the Japanese company. The success of these small collector’s animals should continue over the years.
