In less than a month, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion will be a new edition of the RPG classic from Square Enix. Then you should definitely get more than a 0815 remaster, because the game was screwed on many levels. This is also reflected in the technology.
Square Enix today released a new reboot trailer that aims to put the modern take on the action RPG classic in perspective. The game is also a prequel to the main game Final Fantasy VII. In the new edition, they say they want to deliver “more than just a remaster”.
15 years after the release of the original game on PlayStation Portable, the graphics have been completely turned upside down and completely overhauled for the new edition. In addition to the opulent HD visuals, there is also a newly arranged soundtrack, fully voiced dialogues in English and Japanese, and an updated combat system.
A lot has been done, especially in technical terms, to bring the game up to date. Accordingly, an infographic was published that gives you more details on the expected resolution and frame rate depending on the platform. On the PS5 under Xbox Series X/S, for example, you can look forward to 4K optics, on the PC there are up to 120 frames per second.
In any case, Executive Producer Yoshinori Kitase is convinced of the qualities of the new edition: “This is more than just a remaster – it is a game that transcends generations and platforms. We are very proud of all the incredible improvements that the development team have made in Crisis Core : Final Fantasy VII – Reunion.”
The title’s story begins seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII and follows Zack Fair, a young Shinra soldier. During the adventure, he discovers the dark secrets of Shinra’s experiments and the monsters that result from them. It will be released on December 13, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC.
