The Amazon Game Studios originally announced their hero shooter Crucible in 2016. Now just announce it again – just two weeks before the release!
Because as Amazon announced in the press release, the Free2Play shooter Crucible is already released on May 20, 2020 on the PC (a console release is apparently not planned for the time being). And as the "Free2Play" already suggests, the game will be released completely free of charge on Steam. It also appears three months ahead of New World, the other Amazon game that we already know a lot more about.
After the first information about Crucible appeared in early April, the developers from Amazon Game Studios are now explaining in more detail what awaits us in their multiplayer shooter. They also have one first gameplay trailer published, which you can take a look at here.

Crucible: First gameplay trailer for Amazon's multiplayer shooter
What is Crucible about?
In the free shooter, we compete with ten different heroes in three modes. Let us first come to the playable characters: something like the heroes from Overwatch or the operators from Rainbow Six: victories all come with their own special abilities.
To the 10-member hero team Human, extraterrestrial and robot-like fighters include the following three candidates:
- The interstellar trucker "Earl": A kind of tank character with a huge cannon
- The robotic botanist "Bugg": A small, yellow robot that apparently loves plants
- The former welder "Summer": For professional reasons, she likes fire, so she uses a flamethrower in combat
With these and other heroes, we compete to re-shoot our opponents and hostile creatures in the game world. Furthermore we collect the so-called essenceis a resource we use to improve our character in the course of a match. And we do the whole thing in the following three game modes:
- Heart of the swarms: Two four-man teams compete against each other as well as against shoals of bosses that appear everywhere in the game world. Each swarm contains a heart and in the end the team that gets three of these hearts wins.
- Harvester command: Two eight-man teams have to capture and hold points on the map (i.e. domination / domination) in order to collect the essence there.
- Alpha hunter: Eight two-man teams fight here for bare survival, a kind of mini-battle royale.
It remains to be seen how Amazon will arrive with this concept in the shooter genre. The fact that Crucible appears completely free of charge is certainly a certain start-up aid. We will stay on the ball and keep you up to date with all new information about the Amazon shooter.
