The Crysis website shines in a new light. While she previously simply forwarded to the homepage of developer Crytek, Nomad can now be seen in a nano suit. Fans are now expecting relevant news. But will they come?
Just an April Fool's Day?
The new look of the Crysis website went online on April 1st and the source code also hides clear signs of a joke. The following meta tag can be found here:
"<meta name =" keywords "content =" Crysis, FPS, Crytek, Video game, April Fool, launch ">"
"April Fool" corresponds to the German "April, April!" And indicates that Crytek only allowed himself a little fun with the update, but in reality is not working on a remaster for the shooter, which is known primarily for its graphics.
Or is there more behind it?
Since the site remains online even days after April 1st, speculation is growing among fans. Is the April Fool's Day an indication of a remaster? Did you only use April 1 as a vehicle to fuel the rumor mill?
And would Crytek really risk dodging the players by stoking hope and then delivering nothing? So far there are no concrete answers to all of these questions.
What speaks for a remaster?
However, Crytek only posted one in the recent past Trailer that can also be rated as a teaser.
For example, the video entitled "Never stop Achieving – CRYENGINE Showcase 2020: Games of the Decade" ends completely incoherently with a section from the first Crysis, which was released in 2007 and thus in the previous decade:
Does the video show a remaster? The Reddit user ContributorX_PJ64 also finds that the section shown looks different from the original Crysis. In his opinion, the lighting and post-processing stand out.
In the past, there were also cases in which developers presented a game as an April Fool's joke, but later decided to do so based on positive feedback. to really develop it. This was the case with Conan Chop Chop, for example.
Of course, this is all about Guesswork and rumors, but no tangible information. Because officially the Crytek team has not announced anything yet. Only the studio itself will be able to say whether there is more behind the April Fool's joke. But they are silent on the subject.
