Kane’s legacy could see some kind of return, as a recent survey Crystal Dynamics Fans are being asked about the series.
Earlier this year, Square Enix sold some IP and some studios to hugger group, which includes the Kain estate and the rights to Crystal Dynamics. Of course, this has led some fans to hope that this might mean some sort of revival for the series, because what better time than now? Well, fans of Kane might be in luck, as Crystal Dynamics released a survey (which you can fill out here) with some questions that definitely made it seem interested in bringing the series back.
Obviously the survey asks all sorts of questions about the series, and if you’re like me who haven’t played the games but heard about them, it does ask why you haven’t. It also vaguely asks you about vampire games in general and what features in vampire games you like.
It also bluntly asks you questions about potential remakes, reboots, and sequels, so at least someone at Crystal Dynamics knows that it’s possible to bring Kane’s legacy back in some form or form.
It’s also worth noting that one question does ask if you want the hypothetical new game to be single-player or multiplayer. The latest entry in the series, Nosgoth, a free-to-play multiplayer spinoff, launched in public beta in 2015, but the servers shut down the following year.
The original games were usually action-adventure platformers, a genre you don’t see much outside of the indie world these days, so if the Legacy of Kane series did return with a new entry, fans might remember it a little differently.
