For CD Projekt Red, the days since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 have been dominated by bad news and threatened lawsuits. Above all, the catastrophic technical condition on the last-gen consoles scratched the studio’s good reputation to date. According to one, the reports have the sales figures current press release only partially damaged.
Overall, Cyberpunk 2077 had until December 20th over 13 million times sold. Just for comparison: The Witcher 3 was able to run over a period of five years sell about 28 million copies.
Many seem to play cyberpunk despite numerous problems, struggle with only a few technical problems or have so far decided against a refund in order to wait for patches and updates.

Criticism of Cyberpunk 2077 – What does CD Projekt have to deliver now?
High numbers despite refunds
The numbers, according to CD Projekt Red, include sales from digital distribution platforms as well as estimated data coming from retail. The refunds that customers have made directly via the developer’s refund campaign have already been taken into account. Refunds that have been made in other ways (e.g. via the Steam Refund or Sony) are therefore not taken into account.

Million sales since release: In the run-up to the release, CD Projekt Red was able to recoup a large part of the development and advertising costs of Cyberpunk 2077. The role-playing game has been pre-ordered over eight million times. Since then, another five million copies have been added.
However, the studio does not provide any information on the platform distribution. It is therefore unclear on which system the role-playing game has sold best so far.
No real improvement in the stock market
However, the news of success does not yet leave any prospect of improvement on the stock market for CD Projekt. After the security had previously been on a decline, the shareholders are apparently still unsettled.
At the current level, the value on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange is only 58.06 dollars – from previously over 90 dollars a few days before the release of Cyberpunk 2077.
What’s next for Cyberpunk 2077?
Just a few days ago, the Polish developer published the major update 1.05 for Cyberpunk 2077. Numerous improvements have already been implemented on both the PC and the consoles.
There are not expected to be any new patches over the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. For January and February are big updates announced that will further optimize the role play and eliminate bugs.
