Yet customary to censor games on its territory, we learn today that Australia does not require any form of censorship to the game Cyberpunk 2077.
These are the developers of CD Projekt Red who are announcing the good news to us. Although Cyberpunk 2077 is classified R 18+ in Australia for its violence or even its sexual violence, the title will not be censored on this territory unlike many games like Saints Row IV, State of Decay or even The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, another production by CD Projekt Red.
Obtaining a classification in Australia was an important step on our way to exit the game in September. We are creating a mature title for a mature audience, so we expected R 18+. We haven't had to modify the game in any way, and Australian gamers are ready to enjoy the full Cyberpunk 2077 experience. Kuba Kutrzuba at GameSpot microphone
A wait that was long for the developers as confirmed by the words of John Mamais dating from October 2019. The latter already expressed his fear of seeing his title censored on Australian territory. Fortunately for him and for the Australian players therefore, this is not the case.
I was (concerned about censorship) because I know that Australia has problems with drugs or sexual violence – these are two things that can kill your product (in Australia). But I've been looking into it for the past few days and it looks like we're safe. You are not rewarded for using drugs as far as I know in the game.
As a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on September 17 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also be on Google Stadia
