An unfulfilled lunar ambition
The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was very poorly received due to numerous technical problems and sparked a wave of criticism. However, the release of the anime “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” sparked renewed interest in the game. Set in the same universe, the series intrigued fans, especially with its plot in which the moon is a valuable target. The series highlights the importance of the moon and reflects the characters’ aspirations to reach it. Combined with the numerous updates, this has allowed CD Projekt Red to restore the image of its title, making this revival a real success.
Despite the cancellation of the Moon DLC, interest in space exploration in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe has not completely died out. CD Projekt Red has stated that no further expansions will be developed for Cyberpunk 2077 after “Phantom Liberty”, marking the end of active support. However, fans can hope that these unrealized concepts will find their way into the game’s sequel, which is tentatively called “Project Orion.” This new project could potentially offer the community the opportunity to explore environments such as the stars, although this remains speculative and is still far from concrete implementation
