Cyberpunk 2077 – Arrives in Death Stranding: Trailer for the free DLC

A crossover event with Cyberpunk 2077 is currently running in Death Stranding. And that not only gives you cool Johnny Silverhand sunglasses and a samurai motorcycle for protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, but also reveals a secret that even CP77 players haven’t yet should know.

Because knowledge of the event content requires at least progress through act 2, we hereby expressly warn you Spoiler risk. So if you haven’t finished the first chapter of Cyberpunk 2077, read this message afterwards. If you also want to be surprised by possible DLC content, this message could also anticipate something. You have been warned.

What the event reveals

Are you still reading? Then you really want to know! So, part of the crossover event “Death Stranding x Cyberpunk 2077” is a splitter, a data chip from CP77 that Porter Bridges finds. Here he gets a series of messages that come from a character in Cyberpunk.

The character introduces himself as “J”. He explains that it is apparently stored on the chip as a ghost. To put it into perspective: The Relic chip that we steal in the first act of Cyberpunk 2077 contains the engram of Johnny Silverhand. With the help of sophisticated technology, it is possible in Night City to save the consciousness and memories of deceased people on biochips.

The same fate apparently overtook the ominous J in Death Stranding. Well, if you’ve played through Act 1 of Cyberpunk 2077, you can think of a dead person whose name is abbreviated with a J.

A clearer clue is messages from J in Death Stranding. The last one is:

“As far as I can tell, I’m a ghost. Look at me, Choom, a damn ghost floating between worlds. Shit. The chiral network is the only thing I can hold onto. But thanks to the chips that you found it all comes back to me. V and the rest …

I just have to find out where and when I did something wrong and then I can go home. There is no reason I can’t.

As far as I can tell, I don’t have to worry about a body – I’m just made up of dates, memories, and resentments. Nothing to lose, everything to be gained. Well worth a try you know Which means it’s time for us to say goodbye. ”

Is J coming back?

You see, this is obviously speaking Jackie Welles with Porter Bridges. He seems to be trapped on a chip, just like Johnny Silverhand. In the story, this could possibly be explained by the fact that he had the biochip in his head for a while after the cooling container for the sensitive device failed.

This seems to be about Jackie Welles, V's deceased friend.
This seems to be about Jackie Welles, V’s deceased friend.

It was only shortly before his death that Jackie passed the chip on to V, whereupon we planted it in our head, which ultimately led to the appearance of Johnny Silverhand. Now the question is, what Jackie could mean by “being able to go home”?

Jackie may return in one future DLC back, like the colleagues from Techraptor speculate. We could imagine that with our Choomba in mind we could still settle various open bills. But this is of course pure speculation, as no DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 has officially been presented yet. On the other hand, it is already clear that something is coming:
