New gameplay trailer and release window for city-building strategy game Gold.

Covenant, a new Polish game studio founded by former CD Projekt Red and Frostpunk developers, announced the dark fantasy game back in 2021.

To survive, you must build, but to win, you must conquer the darkness beyond the gates.

In the game, you will lead the people of the Dawn tribe on an adventure into forbidden lands in a dark fantasy strategic campaign rich in Slavic lore.

You’ll need to build a humble settlement to survive and eventually turn it into a mighty fortress, while protecting your citizens from invading tribes, monsters, and mysterious forces lurking in the surrounding woods.

There are a large number of missions and random encounters in the game, which will lead you deep into the wilderness, hunt legendary creatures, uncover ancient secrets, and fight deadly enemies. As you progress through the game, you can unlock spells with a variety of offensive and defensive spells to turn the fight in your favour. Each spell has custom animations and potentially dire results.

If you want more of a challenge, you can create custom scenarios with procedurally generated levels. You can customize your game flow by choosing a main objective, choosing your starting party, level size, amount of resources, enemy types, raid strength, and even how bad the weather is.

One cool feature of the game is the sanity system, which seems to be inspired by games like Darkest Dungeon. This gauges the mental health of your settlers, so do whatever you can to keep your people sane or things will go wrong. This includes keeping an eye out for disease or starvation, where even the death of a relative can have a devastating impact on their life and well-being.

Not only does the Gord sound fun, but it fits perfectly in our cab. It’s been on our radar for a while now, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

Originally slated for release in 2022, Gord is scheduled for a summer release on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
