Nazralath: The Fallen World – Trailer reveals dark mix of Planescape and Dark Souls
With its debut Nazralath: The Fallen World, the small development team Euclidean Studios from Belgrade has set itself the task of reviving design virtues of classic role-playing games »that have been forgotten over time«.
That apparently strong Dark Souls ajar Action RPG is designed to revisit the mechanics of your favorite games you grew up playing, with the storytelling of HP Lovecraft and the macabre style
One of those favorite games, its influence on the official site prominently advertised is Planescape: Torment. However, the first game scenes in the announcement trailer remain vague, so that initially only the Souls reference remains clear.
In his Gaming Virgin report on the classic, Sascha Penzhorn also found that even the legendary role-playing game of yore has problems revealing its strengths to newcomers right away:
Planescape: Torment
How fun is it the first time?
The story is the focus
While the Unreal Engine delivers the opulent images and that alone should create a dense atmosphere, according to the developers, the focus is clearly on the story. This should not only be grippingly staged, but also offer one or the other branch that puts the further course in your hands.
Exploring the surroundings should also be a key gameplay aspect, but it is noticeable that nowhere does the term »open world« come upwhich means that the title shouldn’t compete with the top dog Elden Ring.
Instead, the studio sees its work as a distinctive and fresh reinterpretation of the role-playing genre, while also referring to it as a Action adventure with RPG elements
Meanwhile, it is known that Nazralath probably exclusively for the PC appears and a corresponding Steam page is already in preparation. Whether it will also end up on other sales platforms, the developers left just as open as the targeted release period.
