With the new feature you can take your chat history with you in encrypted form.
When you get a new smartphone, the first official act is usually to transfer all data from the old to the new phone. If you switch from Android to Android or from iPhone to iPhone, this is usually not a problem. However, if you want to switch between operating systems, the process is often much more complicated. Whatsapp has now released a feature that should make the process from Android to iPhone easier for you.

The trickiest thing is to take the entire saved chat history with you. Pictures, videos and other files can also be transferred more or less well between iOS and Android. On Facebook announces Mark Zuckerberg personally that chat histories can now be safely transferred from Android to iPhone. That was one of the most requested features.
This has been possible from iPhone to Android since last year. End-to-end encryption is retained throughout the process.

This is how the transfer works
One help page from Whatsapp explains how the transfer works in practice and what requirements must be met. Here we also learn that call logs, display names and peer-to-peer payment messages cannot be transferred. The following criteria must be met for the transfer of the remaining data:
- The Android device has Android OS Lollipop SDK 21 or higher or Android 5 or higher
- The iPhone has iOS 15.5 or higher
- Die App
Transfer to iOS
is installed on the Android smartphone - Whatsapp is version 2.22.10.70 or higher on the iOS device
- On Android you need version 2.22.7.74 or higher
- Both smartphones use the same phone number
- The iPhone must be brand new or set to factory settings
- Both devices must be connected to a power source
- Both devices must be connected to the same WLAN
If all requirements are met, you can start with the transfer. To do this, simply open it Transfer to iOS
app on the old Android smartphone and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you have transferred the data to the new iPhone, you can create a group with up to 512 members directly, because the news service recently increased the member limit here.
