Dave Bautista has donned his hat to the ring war machine The movie does this by reminding everyone that he is indeed in one of the games.
It’s definitely one of the weirdest parts of Gears 5’s promotional material, but for a while, you could get a skin that’s literally Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, and there’s nothing fancy about it. Well, just this week, Netflix announced that a film adaptation and animated series are in the works. As one of his recent tweets indicated, Bautista wants to join.
“I couldn’t make this easier,” Bautista tweeted in a video of him wearing the Gears outfit that was originally used as promotional material for his Gears 5 appearance. He of course tagged the parties involved, Netflix and the official Gears Twitter, and unsurprisingly, the tweet garnered a fair amount of support for his audition for Marcus Fenix.
If Bautista plays, it’s not unheard of for actors to try to garner social media support to justify their position, just as Simu Liu and Shang Chi did the same. Bautista’s greatest strength, again, was that he was in one of those fights. He is also supported by Cliff Bleszinskithe designer of the first three games, I guess so!
It seems a bit early for Netflix’s Gears project, as there’s no name attached yet. That’s pretty much it for the announcement, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens with nearly every aspect of production. A Gears of War movie has actually been a long time coming, with one iteration in development hell over a decade ago.
