Supergirl: Girl of Tomorrow Its Kryptonian cousin is found in House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock.
Earlier this month, reports emerged that Alcock would be competing with actors including Emilia Jones (“CODA”) and Meg Donnelly (“The Winchesters”) to play Superman’s cousin Zor ·Al (also known as Kara). The Hollywood Reporter reported yesterday that Alcock appears to have stepped out of the running, as she has been officially confirmed to star in the upcoming DC movie, which is part of an overall reboot of the franchise. It was previously mentioned that Zor-El would appear in a project or two before her own solo outing, something The Hollywood Reporter reiterated but has yet to confirm if the character will appear in the DC Studios co-chief executive James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy Project or Standalone Project.

THR also says that filming could begin as early as this fall, though a director is still needed – Ana Nogueira, best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, is currently attached to the film screenwriter. The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Bilquis Evely and written by Tom King.
Gunn also shared a post on his Instagram account confirming Alcock’s casting, writing: “Millie is an incredibly talented young actor and I couldn’t be more excited for her to be a part of the DCU Very excited. Yes, I first became aware of her role in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by the various auditions and auditions she did for Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Anna Nogueira. ”
Alcock is best known for her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon Season 1, but she hasn’t done much other high-profile work yet. Supergirl will obviously be her biggest role yet, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we start seeing her in more projects soon.
