Dead by Daylight takes another step toward becoming an all-encompassing museum of pop culture killers. Now it’s Five Nights at Freddy’s turn, opening the door to the scariest pizza places ever.
At the moment, FNAF creator Scott Cawthorn and the studios behind the games are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy’s and are releasing one big news item after another. In addition to new games, books and behind-the-scenes insights into the (upcoming) FNAF films, they have now announced a crossover with Dead by Daylight. Freddy and friends are joining the large horde of killers in DBD. So far, however, there has been nothing more than a photo slapped together without comment.
It is not yet known who exactly will be the new killer in Dead by Daylight. However, if you take a look at the past ten years of FNAF history, a few names spring to mind.
(Warning! Wild fan speculation follows!)
The eponymous Freddy Fazbear would be an obvious choice. Possibly even together with the other three original animatronics Chica, Foxy and Bonnie, who many now know from the movie. After all, the new 2v8 mode for Dead by Daylight was only recently introduced. This way, at least two of the four characters could go hunting together.
Alternatively, villain, mad scientist and pizzeria owner William Afton is certainly also on the fans’ wish list. He would look particularly impressive in his guise as Golden Bonnie or Burntrap. Who wouldn’t be afraid if a burned man in a torn rabbit costume was chasing them?
Other candidates would be the Mimic (possibly in mascot form) or Vanny. And if you want to get really absurd, I’ll throw DJ Music Man, Michael Afton, Baby or Glamrock Chica into the ring.
>>If you don’t want to work through dozens of games, novels and coloring books: The whole story of FNAF summarized for you<<
On the survivors side, things are traditionally a little more straightforward in FNAF. If Dead by Daylight doesn’t want to use the pixel characters from the older FNAF games, then the only ones left are Gregory and Vanessa from Security Breach or Cassie from the associated Ruin DLC.
A possible new map could of course be one of the pizzerias or even the mega-pizzaplex.
However, fans will have to wait a little longer before they can slip into the mascot costume. The collaboration is not scheduled to take place until sometime in 2025.
