With Dead Rising, an earlier zombie title returns to the scene somewhat unexpectedly, as Capcom has confirmed a remaster for the current platforms.
Dead Rising is the return of one of the better zombie apocalypse-set titles. The Capcom title, originally released in 2006, had already received an HD remaster in 2015, and the new deluxe remaster will follow in 2024. This next remake of the action game will be released later this year for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
The first part of the franchise was successful enough to spawn several more Dead Rising games that shaped the zombie apocalypse genre for many years. However, the last new part of the franchise was released several years ago in 2016.
Details about the deluxe remaster are still few and far between, apart from the first teaser that was released. Apart from that, all that is certain is that there will be a “brand new look”, so that Frank West, for example, has been completely remodeled. However, he will also probably have a new voice; the original voice actor is no longer on board.
And the Willamette setting in Colorado also looks much more detailed in the short clip and seems to be overrun by more zombies. However, there is no specific date yet as to when you will be heading back there.
