The remake of Dead Space has definitely hit and also knew how to convince. What’s next for the horror franchise? A poll suggests more remakes could follow!
Electronic Arts seems to be seriously considering the possibility of further remakes of Dead Space, after the first part worked out quite well in January. Although an official announcement is still a long way off, players are currently getting feedback on whether they will be interested in remakes of earlier parts in the future.
Via Twitter the screenshots of said survey that EA places among players has now surfaced. It explores interest in remakes of both Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3. This fact alone allows conclusions that EA is willing to continue on the path it has taken – assuming there is a corresponding interest in the players.
Originally released in 2011, Dead Space 2 built on the success of the original 2008 game. The game also focused on the mental state of protagonist Isaac Clarke. Isaac’s visions played a terrifying role, as did the horror of the Necromorph outbreak itself. In addition, a competitive multiplayer part was introduced with the sequel.
Meanwhile, 2013’s Dead Space 3 moved more noticeably away from the survival-horror formula of the first two titles and placed an increased focus on action-oriented gameplay. The co-op gameplay was also emphasized more than the usual single player story. However, microtransactions also found their way into the title, which was harshly criticized by fans of the time.
