Deadpool & Wolverine recently revealed in a trailer that an old enemy of Logan will appear in the film: Sabretooth! The version of him that we last saw in 2000, when X-Men was released.
Tyler Mane, the same actor from back then, returns to the furry role. The former wrestler has also starred in classics such as The Scorpion King and Troy.
We’ll briefly refresh your memories, what role Sabretooth played
Sabretooth in X-Men
With his furry clothes and wild blonde hair, the mutant Sabretooth in the film was very similar to his comic book counterpart. He spoke very few words, but roared all the more – his animal side predominates. Sabretooth was one of Magneto’s followers and was a man for the rough stuff. In the comics, he is also a bitter enemy of Wolverine.
The two are similar: Sabretooth also has powerful claws, but they are organic and not made of adamantium. Both are extremely strong and tough, and Sabretooth also has regenerative powers. So things are likely to get pretty brutal in the new Deadpool film when he and Wolverine go at each other.

Deadpool & Wolverine: A well-known Marvel villain makes an appearance in the new trailer
In the trailer, Deadpool already mentions, that fans have been waiting for a rematch between the two mutants for decades: The last time they crossed claws was in 2000, as mentioned above. And Sabretooth was defeated by Cyclops back then, his exact fate was not revealed.
But wait, Sabretooth appeared again in 2009? Yes and no, the character did indeed appear as the main character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but played by Liev Schreiber (Salt, Don’t Look Up) and with a completely different portrayal. Perhaps Deadpool & Wolverine will address these two different versions in the usual meta-style.
The film opens in theaters on July 26th. Only a few scenes have been shown so far, which makes us suspect that there could be further cameos from well-known Marvel characters that are being kept secret until the release.
