Death Stranding 2: On The Beach: Kojima: Sequel not even half finished!

Beach, Death, Finished, Kojima, sequel, Stranding

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is known to be in the works, but according to Hideo Kojima, the anticipated sequel is not even half finished. Nevertheless, the release schedule should basically work.

At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Hideo Kojima recently commented on the post-apocalyptic sequel Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. It also discussed the current status of development work – and the answer looks pretty sobering at first glance.

According to the mastermind and developer boss, Death Stranding 2 is only around “30 to 40 percent” completed, i.e. not even halfway. Nevertheless, he showed no concern about this current state of development before confirming that the title is still planned for a release next year 2025.

The plans for the release date seem to have already progressed: “I didn’t mention the release date today, but the release date has already been set and I’m currently working on preparing it,” Kojima continued.

The release date will not be announced until next year because “unforeseen circumstances” would have prevented this from being confirmed earlier. Accordingly, the release date is unlikely to be announced at The Game Awards 2024 in December, although Kojima has a good relationship with presenter Geoff Keighley and often uses his events as a stage for such announcements.

Death Stranding 2 is the sequel to the original game released in 2019 and was first mentioned at The Game Awards 2022. Norman Reedus returns as Sam Porter Bridges.
