The makers of “Yellowstone” dedicate the opening episode of the second part of the fifth season to Billy Klapper. We’ll tell you who the man was and what he has to do with the series.
The hit series Yellowstone is back with new episodes. After more than a year, the last missing episodes of season 5 can now be seen in the USA and Germany. Episode 9 “Desire is the only thing that counts” marks the start. The creators dedicated it to a certain “Billy Klapper”, who recently passed away at the age of 87. He is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Yeates and Elizabeth Wilson, and six grandchildren. Who was Klapper and what does he have to do with “Yellowstone”?
Billy Klapper began mak ing bits and spurs full-time in 1968. He was highly valued in the cowboy and ranching community for his artistry and is considered a legend in the scene. He was particularly known for his one-piece spurs. Over the course of his long career, Klapper made 682 different spur patterns and 816 different denture patterns, according to his obituary.

Both Klapper and his works can be seen in the new “Yellowstone” episodes. There is a scene in episode 9 of season 5 in which Rip, played by Cole Hauser, stops by a dealer to buy a horse bit. While at the merchant, Rip admires an impeccably crafted pair of spurs made from a single piece of metal.

“Yellowstone” is a hit series from Paramount+, but showrunner Taylor Sheridan actually wanted to make a movie out of it. What title should this have?
The spurs were actually made by none other than the late Billy Klapper. The Artisan appears as himself in the Season 5 episode, marking Klapper’s only cameo in the series. You can now stream the new Yellowstone episodes in Germany – with a trick even for free.
