Deku Smash has been abruptly removed from Fortnite, allegedly due to “an issue” Official Fortnite Social Media ChannelsJust a few days ago, epilepsy concerns were raised about the attack, as well as frustration with its ability to one-shot enemy players.
Both are potential reasons for removing the weapon from the game, though the former is arguably the most disturbing. While we can’t be sure if fear of seizures was the reason for the removal, it’s good news for those who have avoided playing the game due to health concerns.
Added in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, along with an array of My Hero Academia cosmetics launched by the attack, the Deku Smash is an extremely powerful weapon that players in a hurry can use to destroy their opponents by flying into the sky and unleashing powerful Strike, and send out a massive projectile that can easily hit full-shielded players in one shot.
Whether or not the special weapon will return was a matter of some discussion on Fortnite Reddit, and the sudden removal of the smash from the in-game challenges led some to believe it was gone forever.
Most of the discussion around weapon removal focuses on whether it’s fair. While some were frustrated with the sheer power of Deku Smash, others felt the joy of launching massive blasters outweighed their concerns about balance. One such user, Fizzsnork, wrote: “I love Deku Smash, I love running away from it. Honestly, I’m tired of complainers who don’t bother to change the way they play the game when a new weapon or vehicle is introduced. Epic does it every time Submit to them.”
