Steam Next Fest: February 2024 Edition A few days later, we’re again highlighting just a few of the thousands of demos you can try.
Because it can be a little overwhelming, we’re going through the tons of demos to give you a list of some cool-looking games you might want to try. You’ll find everything from roguelikes to city-building games, RPGs to shooters, so give it a look.
Steam Next Fest: February 2024 Edition runs until February 12, and in addition to demos, many developers are hosting live streams to discuss their upcoming releases. Chats with developers will also continue during this time.
This twin-stick adventure exploration game from Moonloop Games has a lovely aesthetic, including a hand-crafted art style, use of line art, and a two-tone color palette. Named Hauntii, you play as the game’s namesake, a ghost seeking answers about the mysteries of eternity and the race of luminous creatures known as the Eternals. These mysterious beings guide lost souls to a central tower, where they appear to ascend to higher planes. They look like angels, but no one knows who they are or where they come from. To find the answers, you’ll use your ghostly powers to control residents and the environment, find ways to solve puzzle challenges, and devise ways to create various combat scenarios. The game will also be available on PlayStation, Switch and Xbox.
NIMRODS: GunCraft Survivor – Steam Next Fest Trailer
One of the most popular demos on Steam right now is the shooter Nimrods: GunCraft Survivor. In it, you are an expendable clone created with one purpose in mind: to test devastating, over-the-top, ridiculous weapons. As a tester for a gun manufacturer, in this roguelite shooter, you need to scour alien planets and collect wild weapon parts to invent wilder guns and kill thousands. You might not survive the hordes of aliens you encounter, but your gun can.
Potion: A Strange Story – Release Date Announcement Trailer
If you’re in the mood to try an adventure puzzle game with RPG elements and combat, give the demo of Potions: A Curious Tale a try. You play as a young witch named Luna who overcomes obstacles and solves puzzles while using potions brewed from items collected from magical lands. When faced with conflict, sometimes fighting is not the answer. In these situations, play as Luna and use your wits to quickly develop conflict resolution strategies to avoid danger and deceive, confuse, and intimidate your opponents into giving up valuable resources. You’ll encounter monsters, adventure across seven biomes, and craft over 100 potions with the help of your witch grandmother and your cat’s familiar Helios.
Rotwood – Steam Next Fest Trailer
Klei Entertainment, the company that brought you Oxygen Not Included, Shank, Invisible Inc., and best of all, Don’t Starve, now presents Rotwood, the 1-4 player hack-and-slash roguelike dungeon crawler. In the game, you and up to three friends will explore and battle a maze-like forest filled with evil vegetation. You’ll face ever-increasing ch allenges and rewards for crafting new weapons and armor or strengthening your safe haven. That’s all there is to know about the game right now, with more features and details to be revealed in future announcements.
[Realm of Ink] – Steam Next Fest Demo Trailer
Another game that got a lot of attention during Next Fest was the ink-style action roguelite Realm of Ink from Leap Studio and Maple Leaf Studio. You play a female swordsman named Hong. While chasing the fox demon, you unexpectedly discover that your life is determined by the “destiny” of the world in the book. In order to uncover the truth about your existence and challenge the constraints of destiny, you need to break free from these constraints. You can choose from three playable characters, nine powerful weapons to equip, 20 unique ink gems, over 120 artifacts, ink pets that can evolve into more than 15 different forms, and conquer 20 A variety of creatures with distinctive Chinese characteristics and their own backstories.
Omega Artisan trailer (release date announced trailer)
Eager to play an open-world survival crafting game with a programmable assistant named Grammi? Then try the demo version of Omega Crafter. Set in a game world under development and under attack by a mysterious program, you will build a city and fight with Grammi (and friends) against enemies in order to complete the game’s development in time for its release date. You can program your companion to do a variety of things, explore various biomes, fight monsters, collect materials, find hidden secrets, and invite your friends to play with you online in procedurally generated worlds. .
Count vs. Mutants – Game Trailer
“Earl vs the Mutants” will be released in April. It is a bullet hell survival rogue-like game set in a post-apocalyptic world full of mutants. You, Earl, are the only Edna employee who owns a pest control company that deals with these mutants. As the winner of the 37th consecutive Employee of the Month award, your job is to create powerful builds by combining vehicle-mounted weapons, attack and support drones, level-based upgrades, and temporary power-ups, thanks to ever-expanding impacts. Every build attempt is different. Running upgrade list. When you’re ready, you’ll venture into a 3D environment to battle hordes of mutants in episodes lasting 10 minutes or less. If you survive, you’ll go head-to-head with the boss to win their vehicle.
Voxlands Next Fest Trailer v2
Those who like blocky-looking games may enjoy Voxlands, where sprawling “ooze” is transforming the ray-traced voxel terrain. The local residents need your help and you need to find the secret behind this strange ooze. Throughout the game, you’ll encounter mutated wildlife as you explore, craft, loot, build, destroy, and shoot your way to the top of the food chain, alone or with friends.
Kingsgrave – Release Date Revealed Trailer
The gloomy Metroidvania-like adventure game Kingsgrave will be released on April 17th. Inspired by the classic Zelda game, in which you play as a king who awakens from a long slumber to discover that disease has swept through your kingdom and claimed the lives of people. Your lands have withered and many of your subjects have abandoned their homes, monsters created from fragments of diseased souls taking their place. As you adventure through an interconnected world, you’ll solve puzzles, discover hidden paths, and traverse dangerous terrain to gather resources to build a new village. In order to bring your subjects back to your kingdom and save those who remain, you must kill the plague creatures.
Millennia – Steam Next Fest Demo | Live Now!
Millennia, published by Paradox Interactive, is a historical turn-based 4X game that challenges your strategic skills spanning 10,000 years of history. Developed by C Prompt Games, you will determine the course of ten eras of human history, from the first cities to space travel. If you complete certain objectives, you can shift time to a variant era—an alternate history with new rules, technology, and units. Just beware of times of crisis, as these fragments of chaos and disorder could plunge the world into a future filled with war, disease, or ignorance. With this in mind, it is possible for crises to be transformed into opportunities. Choose your path carefully, for your actions will have a lasting impact on your people and the world.
Underling Uprising v0.8 demo version update
This modern fighting game from Dummy Dojo has a ’90s cartoon vibe and lets you fight around the world as Russell Crowe. The game, Underling Uprising, focuses on a set of scientifically enhanced experiments trying to stop its creator, a mad scientist with nefarious intentions. There are a variety of enemies to fight along with mini-bosses and main bosses. Using your massive moves, open combo system, and various mounts, you’re sure to defeat them all. Underling Uprising features seven lengthy stages, multiple difficulties, an arcade mode, and four-player local co-op, with the option of a versus mode if you’re feeling lonely.
