One of the big announcements after the confirmation that Anthony Mackie would star Captain America: Brave New Worldis that Harrison Ford himself would join the team of the UCM. The legendary actor will play the president of the United States, who has the peculiar condition of being able to become Red Hulk.
Such a threat will have to be s topped by Steve Rogers’ new replacement and it seems clear that the solution will be to eliminate the actor’s character from the equation in one way or another. At least that is what can be intuited if we pay attention to Ford’s words during an interview for GQ
When asked about his perspective of the superheroic universe, the interpreter clarified that “This is the Marvel universe and I’m just there on a weekend pass.. I’m a new sailor in this city. Show me the way home.” If we analyze each sentence, Ford suggests that his contract would be limited to this single appearance in Captain America: Brave New World
“I understand the appeal of other types of movies other than the ones we made in the ’80s and ’90s. I don’t have anything general to say about it. It’s the state we’re in, and things change and morph and continue. We are “Fools if we sit around lamenting the change and don’t participate. I’m participating in a new part of the business that, at least for me, I think is producing good experiences for the public.”
Furthermore, the actor has made it clear that his way of discriminating which projects he does and which he doesn’t is based, fundamentally, on “the quality of the writing. The genre doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s television or film. It’s the writing, it’s the story, it’s the character, it’s the emotional experience for the audience or for myself. It’s the people I have the feeling that I want to work with, or it’s a quality opportunity.”
