We know almost everything there is to know about Diablo 4 Season of Witching, the game's upcoming seventh season. Blizzard recently announced all the new content for the new season as well as major changes to the game.

Last night, the Diablo team held its first livestream of the year to dig deeper into some details about class balance, gameplay tweaks, and the many updates made since December's PTR.

Class rebalancing is always one of the most interesting aspects of Diablo 4's new season. The Witching Season is no different, and in this case it's especially true since it's the first season that the new Psychic class will see some big changes.

The Soul Child is a class introduced in the Container of Hate expansion. Its release coincides with the start of Season 6, so the class hasn't spent enough time in players' hands to justify any major changes to its gameplay.

However, once people start using it, it becomes clear that it is easily the most powerful class of the season. Even putting aside the silly exploits that players took advantage of early on (before they were fixed), the sheer power of Soul Child's various builds made it a cut above the rest.

Rather than changing this meta mid-season, Blizzard decided to let players enjoy Soulchild, but warned that much of what players use to create room-clearing builds will be tweaked in Season Seven.

Well, we're still a few days away from the end of Season 6 and the start of Season 7, and the Eldest have indeed been stripped of most of their powers. The only surprise? It still looks like one of the most powerful classes out there!

Spiritborn was already powerful in the 2.1 PTR patch, and Blizzard made no major changes to that iteration – other than fixing some unintended synergies that caused the Season 6 power spike. That said, the Razor Wings version will have a new unique to play with, as well as a new aspect that should make the build more viable.

The Wizard, on the other hand, has become the weakest class in the Season 7 PTR, so Blizzard has buffed some of its passive skills. Searing and Icefall are two legendary paragon nodes that are also getting some love, mostly to make them compatible with a wider range of builds. Wizards are also getting two unique items this season that appear to be designed for Lightning builds.

Elsewhere in the patch, other classes are seeing some tweaks of their own. Druid has seen its most impactful changes yet. The early game of this class is traditionally characterized by slow resource regeneration. Season seven smoothed that curve, thanks in part to some updates to Spirit Boon. The Fuzzy Beast has also been redesigned to aid in shard building.

The Hammer of the Ancient Barbarian has been buffed once again, which should nicely complement the power provided by the new unique chests added to the game – for all your Quake build needs. The Cyclones also saw some digital gains.

For all the details, check out the 2.1.0 patch notes on the official blog. Witching season begins on Tuesday, January 21st.
