Heavy criticism of the new season
The fourth season of The Boys is currently being criticized by many fans. The list of accusations that can be found on social media such as Reddit is long:
- The series makes the same mistake as the comics and shocks just for the sake of shocking.
- While showrunner Eric Kripke was concerned about the sexual assault on Starlight in season 1 made a great effort not to portray them in a tasteless mannerhe finds the mistreatment of Hughie by Tek Knight
to die laughing
. - The story arc surrounding the presidential elections is perceived as forced, and the series gets lost in political allegories.
- Some plot elements are repeated, such as the fact that Homelander has once again found a motherly figure in Firecracker.
- The relationship that Frenchie and Kimiko have built up over the years is thrown out the window.

A-Train becomes an unexpected fan favorite
Despite the many criticisms, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) has undergone remarkable character development that has been received positively by most fans.
At the beginning of the series, A-Train was a selfish and reckless character who cared little about the consequences of his actions. However, in season 4, he begins to admit his mistakes and take responsibility.
A key moment in his development was his apology to Hughie during the Season 3 episode Herogasm. This small gesture showed that A-Train was beginning to question his past.

In the fourth season, A-Train even helps the Boys several times to take action against the corrupt superhero organization around Homelander. Fans discuss this development lively and see A-Train as a complex character who, despite his mistakes, deserves a chance at redemption:
I love the story of A-Train […]. Ultimately, he’s a good boy who is hopelessly lost. The scene where he talks to his brother on the porch was heartbreaking.
But not everyone is ready to forgive A-Train. Some fans cannot forget his past actions, such as the murder of Popclaw and his role in the death of Supersonic. Despite his attempts to do the right thing, he remains a controversial figure for many. But it is precisely this inner conflict that makes A-Train one of the most fascinating and human characters in the series for many.
There is much debate about A-Train’s future, with some fans speculating that he might leave the Seven and join the Boys to fight against Vought.
Others see in him the potential to become a real superhero who could really use his powers to help people and fight for good after the series ends. Provided he survives that long.
