After Sony did not attach importance to a presentation during E3 last year, this approach will continue in 2020. While last year was simply idle and Sony had nothing new to show about the last titles on the PS4, it is quite surprising that the PlayStation 5 will be back on E3 in the year of its absence.
Quite a few have been expecting Sony to get a good deal of attention on this year's fair in order to vigorously stir the marketing drum for the upcoming console launch. GamesIndustry.biz there is a statement from the company on the said decision: "After careful consideration" they decided not to take part in this year's show. "We have great respect for the [Entertainment Software Association] as an organization, but we don't feel that E3 2020 is the right place to show what we want to focus on this year," it says.

With Nintendo, Microsoft, EA and other major publishers, Sony has been a cornerstone of the Electronic Entertainment Expo for years. In recent years, however, more and more companies have withdrawn from the fair and organized their own events as part of the E3. Prominent examples of this are EA and Microsoft. Nintendo started years ago to replace a stage show with pre-recorded presentations.
