Despite many recent twists and turns, development on Dragon Quest 12 is moving forward. At least this is what Square Enix assures.
Since its announcement in 2021, Dragon Quest 12 has had a very complicated journey. Despite numerous setbacks in three years, Square Enix does not give up and The Flames of the Fate is finally released.
Dragon Quest 12’s development is well maintained
In addition to Dragon Ball or more recently Sand Land, the late legendary Akira Toriyama was one of the main characters of the legendary Dragon Quest license. This also applied to the upcoming twelfth opus. However, his tragic disappearance added another grain of sand to a machine that was already in deep trouble. The title has notably experienced several departures or changes in direction.
Recently, Square Enix also announced that it would be making significant cuts to the number of games in production under its supervision. This is primarily with the aim of refocusing your priorities and saving money. With all of this upheaval, fans might rightly be wondering about the fate of Dragon Quest 12. However, these concerns appear to be unfounded as the Japanese giant is determined to see the development through to the end.
It now remains to be seen to what extent it will be affected by its pitfall-filled journey. In particular, it seems that Akira Toriyama still had many projects related to Dragon Quest 12 in the works. Will the other artists involved be able to take up a meaningful torch? Remember that the eleventh work was published seven years ago now. Will the wait for the sequel be reasonable? The future will show.
