As always on Thursdays, Bungie released a new part of the dev blog “This Week at Bungie” yesterday and it has it all, namely with insights into the upcoming season.
My goodness, it feels like the last expansion and season of Destiny 2 wasn’t that long ago, but the upcoming season 21 is already in the starting blocks for May 23rd. Amazingly, the developers in the current “This Week at Bungie” actually have a first glimpse of what the Season of the Deep will have to offer.
The bad news first: the new Season Pass for Season 21 will be a little more expensive. Bungie estimates 1,200 instead of 1,000 silver for the unlock, which corresponds to an increase of about two dollars. Blessed are those who have already covered the Season Passes for the entire year with the Lightfall expansion.
In addition to the continuation of the events from the current season, there are again some playful innovations and changes. Among other things, there are new aspects for the strand force introduced with Lightfall, for all three classes. Also, the promised exotic item focusing system is definitely coming.
Also planned are revisions to the super abilities, optimization of the in-game economy, including the crafting of the deep vision weapons. There are also some quality-of-life changes, bounty mission overhauls and more. However, what is not included this time is an increase in the power level – you have to make do with the previous limits.
A day earlier, Bungie had extensively discussed upcoming Balancing changes voiced that can really shake up the meta in Season 21. Countless skills of the three classes are affected in all aspects, which will receive a number of tweaks and adjustments. So you can be curious about the gameplay changes again. For many fans disappointed by the story of Lightfall, the focus should be more on how Bungie gets back into the story.
