The past night was nerve-wracking for Destiny 2 players, but even more so for developer Bungie. A bug promptly made items from players disappear, which is why the title had to be completely removed from the network temporarily.

With the patch to version 2.7.1, Bungie just wanted to fix some bugs, but apparently unintentionally brought a big new bug into the game. As an unwanted side effect of the new update, a problem was released that caused players to lose their mica and / or other materials.
For this reason, Bungie reacted briskly and completely removed the servers of the sci-fi epic from the network. Players were presented with an error message that a login is currently not possible.
Destiny 2 servers are back online. Players may experience login issues as services return to normal.
Players who observe issues should report to the Help forum: https://t.co/9lcpiG3pif

Via Twitter the official channel stopped Bungie Help regularly up to date. Some time later, it was communicated that the fault had probably been identified and that the test had to be remedied accordingly. In the end, a hotfix should remedy the situation – and in the meantime this has also been installed.
"We have released a fix for this problem and will reset all player accounts to the status prior to installing the 2.7.1 update," it said in this context. The servers are now back online, but all player progress since the original release of 2.7.1 is gone. In-game purchases made in this timeframe have also been reset and will be refunded.
