Destiny rises – the mobile game and alternate timeline prequel to Bungie’s hit sci-fi FPS Destiny 2 – has been released. Developed and published by NetEase Games under a license from Bungie, closed beta registration for what is sure to be a controversial project in the eyes of Destiny fans is now live.
The game was announced via a flashing trailer that combined beautiful photography with footage of what looked like the game’s various classes fighting in the Vex, Hive, and more. Thankfully, it’s still a first-person shooter with plenty of gunplay to show for it. You can watch the trailer for yourself below, but you should also check out the Destiny Rising website that’s live alongside it.
On this website, the news page has some interesting information for interested players. First off, the Closed Alpha FAQ states that the initial regions that will be accessible are North America and Canada. Additionally, it is recommended that you have a phone that is at least as new as the Snapdragon 845 for Android or the iPhone 8 for Apple.
As for the story, that’s where it gets interesting. In a developer preview posted on the site, it states that the game is not a traditional sequel to Destiny 2, but an alternate timeline set several years before Destiny 1 and Destiny 2. The preview states:
“Destiny: Rising is set in an alternate timeline, many years before Destiny 1 and 2. This timeline allows us to explore in a different way how humanity rose from the ashes of the collapse of the Invaders from beyond the stars ended what was once a golden age.”
Important characters like Ikola Ray will be returning and will apparently be playable! In the trailer, you may have seen classes using abilities they shouldn’t. Judging from the trailer, “This is an era where guardians have not yet been fully defined. Hunters, Titans, Warlocks and other professions have not yet been solidified. Each character has a distinct and unique gameplay, bringing freshness and immersion to players.” Experience. ”
Alpha will initially focus on PvE, but a PvP mode will also be available. You can sign up for the Alpha now, which starts on November 1st!
